What is organic traffic?
Visits that come from unpaid search results, not from ads.
The plain definition
Organic traffic is the visits to your website that come from unpaid search results. If someone searches, clicks a normal result and lands on your page, that is organic. Visits from ads, social posts or emails are counted separately.
An example
Your analytics report shows 300 visits last month from search, plus 40 from a paid ad and 25 from an email. The 300 are organic. Over several months you can see whether the number rises as you improve your pages and profile.
Why it matters for a local business
Organic visits build up slowly, but you do not pay for each click, so the benefit lasts as long as the pages keep earning it. Judge it by calls and enquiries, not by visits alone. A smaller number of visitors who ring you is better than a large number who leave.
